We can attach the pdf file to every standard object and it supports both the Basic and professional version of MSCRM.
The following are the steps:
1- Select the Account object
2- Select any account name
3- Go to the activity section on the Account page layout
4- Select Notes and add a name, as soon as it saved you will get the attach option.
5- Add the pdf / .txt file and save it
